CSS specialists are highly skilled at applying GIS solutions to the analysis of environmental data. This includes analyzing spatial data to produce maps and develop models for environmental assessment, monitoring, and planning. CSS oceanographers and professional divers collect field data and work with our statisticians, cartographers, and programmers to integrate these with satellite images and other time and spatial data to create digital maps. Our work in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration provides a base from which the agency can develop programs and policies to restore and protect marine and coastal environments.
